Vit-Power... Partial List Of Ingredients:
Vitamin A - Essential for the maintenance of healthy skin, hair and eyes. Vitamin A is an antioxidant. The Textbook of Anatomy and Physiology cites that a vitamin A deficiency is linked to conjunctivitis, night blindness, and softening of the cornea. Vitamin A has been shown to help the body fight infection. Vitamin A research shows that Vitamin A actively helps the body fight against various types of cancer cells and free radical cells. Scientific research done at Cornell University has shown that taking vitamin A, along with Vitamin C and Bioflavanoids reduces the chances of stroke by 75%. Washington University conducted a separate study, which supported these same findings.

Vitamin D - is known as the sunshine vitamin. The active form is a hormone manufactured in the skin from the ultraviolet rays of the sunshine. Vitamin D is necessary for the absorption of Calcium. Abnormal bone formation, "Rickets", is seen in Vitamin D deficiency cases. Vitamin D levels of the elderly tend to be about half that of younger people. Many drugs disrupt Vitamin D balance in the body. In 1985, the University of California, San Diego, published amazing results from a 19-year study. 2,000 men whose only difference between those who developed colorectal cancer and those who didn't was those diagnosed with cancer consumed diets with much lower quantities of foods containing vitamin D and Calcium. Studies have shown the minerals magnesium and boron can raise levels of vitamin D in the body. Research indicates that vitamin D has been used to prevent the growth of human breast cancer, colon cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, and malignant melanomas in test tube studies.

Vitamin E - a potent antioxidant. Ongoing research has indicated Vitamin E's effectiveness in chronic and degenerative diseases such as cardiovascular disease and cancer. Biological activities of Vitamin E show evidence of suppression of local and chronic inflammation improves insulin sensitivity in type2 diabetes, non- diabetes, and hypertension. Vitamin E has been used in the treatment of pre-eclampsia. This study was concluded in England using 53 pre-eclamptic women. Low levels of Vitamin E intake increase risk of cataracts and nuclear opacifictaion. Vitamin E is a fat soluble micronutrient containing 8 micronutrients -4 tocopherols and 4 tocotrienols. Natural Vitamin E (d- alpha tocopherol) has a higher availability than synthetic vitamin E (dl-alpha-tocopherol).

Vitamin C - is a water-soluble nutrient that must be obtained from dietary sources. Vitamin C is essential for healthy red blood cells and plays an important part in iron absorption along with B vitamins. Vitamin C is needed for healthy adrenal function.

Vitamin C assists the body in the healing process. Vitamin C is essential for the formation of collagen and empowering the immune system. Clinical studies have proven that Vitamin C can increase immune function against colds, viruses, and helps in the prevention of Cancer. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that protects our body's against free radicals from foods, environment, stress, poor diet choices, and toxins. In the book "How to Live Longer and Feel Better" by Dr. Linus Pauling explains that some diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, cause substances to be expelled into the bloodstream which inhibit immune cell mobility. Vitamin C increases the action of white blood cells, leukocytes, thus strengthening the immune system. Vitamin C encourages the change of cholesterol into bile acids according to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Vitamin C is essential for optimal liver health. A research group from the University of California studies over 11,000 people and found that men who took vitamin C supplements alone increased their life-span 6 years. Women also added a few less years to their lives.

Vitamin B-1 (Thiamin as Thiamin HCL)- B-1 is one of the greatest nerve protectors. B-1 plays a role in the conversion of blood sugars into energy and is a component of key metabolic reaction in the heart, in nerve tissues, and in the production of new cells. B-1 preserves smooth and skeletal muscles. Thiamin was used historically against beriberi, a sudden neurological disease. Lasix is a diuretic that depletes Thiamin from the body. Coffee and tea taken within 2 hours of thiamin neutralize its efficacy.

Vitamin B-2 (Riboflavin)- B-2 is the key nutrient for energy. This vitamin is found to be very helpful in migraine issues. Women who take Birth Control Pills are usually deficient in this vitamin. B-2 works with an enzyme to help create energy and to inhibit free radical damage to the body. It is a strong antioxidant. B-2 is a water-soluble vitamin. The body will not store this vitamin. Signs of B-2 deficiency are cracks around the mouth and lips, a red tongue, and eczema. B-2 is needed for iron absorption.

Niacin (as niacinamide)- niacin also assist the body with energy. Niacin also promotes healthy mental and physical health. Niacin helps regulate blood sugar levels and lower cholesterol levels. Niacin is a known detoxifier of poisons, including narcotics. Niacin is an important element in brain metabolism and has been shown to help improve memory.

Vitamin B-6 - B-6 is responsible for over 60 essential enzymes. B-6 is necessary for the production of nucleic acids, protein, red blood cells, immune cells, and neurotransmitters, and for normal brain function. B-6 deficiency creates low blood sugar and low glucose levels, arthritis, cracks around lips and eyes, numbness in arms and legs, hair loss, heart disorders, paralysis of limbs, visual disturbances, and water retention during pregnancy. The greatest need for B-6 is for keeping the immune system strong. B-6 contains cancer-fighting properties. Dr. Passwater, author of "The New Super nutrition, points to research confirming that vitamin B6 helps prevent arterial plaque.

Folate (as folic acid)- folic acid is the key vitamin for the manufacturing of DNA. Folic acid is very important in pregnancy for the development of the spinal chord and healthy development of the fetus. Hemolytic Anemia and hyperthyroidism increase the body's need for folic acid. Folic acid deficiency can be mistaken for megaloblastic, with symptoms such as anemia, cramps, irritability, tiring easily, and overall feelings of weakness. According to the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, folic acid supplements provides protection from colorectal disease and colon polyps. Studies at the University of Vermont indicate that a deficiency in folic acid may cause irreversible damage to cells, leading to a greater risk of malignancy in those cells. Researchers surmise that the development of cancerous cells is caused by the fracture of chromosomes resulting from inadequate folic acid.

Vitamin B12 - B12 is necessary for red blood cell formation and normal growth, for building immunity and treating certain degenerative diseases. B12 therapy is used often in AIDS, cancer, multiple sclerosis and osteoarthritis. B12 is used also therapeutically for mental and nervous disorders and for improving learning disabilities. B12 help boost energy levels and counter-act allergens. B12 is produced only by micro-organisms. B12 comes from the good bacteria in the gut lining, and smaller amounts are found in the saliva. B12 can be stored in the liver with levels of 3-6 years worth of B12. B12 malabsorption is due to the loss of an important enzyme "the intrinsic factor". Autoimmune reactions interfere with the "intrinsic factor". Emotional, mental and nervous disorders are all linked to B12 deficiency as well as diarrhea, depression, fatigue, indigestion, listlessness, and weakness. Anorexia, heart palpitations, infertility, numbness, shortness in breath and mental imbalances, hallucinations, moodiness, paranoia, violent behavior are all linked to B12 levels. B12 is used in neuropsyciatric conditions and also to avoid intellectual disintegration.

Pantothentic Acid - (B5) is a strong antioxidant and needed for highly stressful situations. Pantothentic acid stimulates adrenal functions and raises production of cortisone and other adrenal hormones necessary for maintaining a healthy nervous system. Pantothentic acid is essential for proper metabolism and energy. Pantothentic acid reduces lactic acid in the muscles. B-5 is involved in the conversion of amino acids and lipids into glucose and also functions as a component in the formation of antibodies in the maintenance of healthy central nervous system function, and the synthesis of sterols and the steroid hormone. Pantothentic acid maintains a healthy digestive function. B5 speeds the healing process, reduces hair loss, reverses graying hair, renews old cells and extends the life span of cells, and decreases "age spots" on the skin. Pantothentic acid helps prevent premature aging and wrinkles. A deficiency in Pantothentic acid can cause adrenal exhaustion, gastrointestinal problems, hypoglycemia, skin disorders, and duodenal ulcers., depression, fatigue, insomnia, and motor nerve dysfunction.

Biotin - essential for food metabolism and the release f energy. Biotin is needed to help other B vitamins work in the body. Biotin assists the body in the use of various Amino Acids. Glands, bones, nerves and the balanced use of insulin all depend on Biotin. Biotin prevents baldness and graying hair. Various skin conditions are treated with biotin, dermatitis, dandruff, eczema, psoriasis and seborrhea. Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin. Biotin increases the body's immune system. Biotin helps inhibit the growth of Candida Albicans. Biotin increases strength and stamina in athletes. JAMA did research on Biotin and found that after 10weeks of only a biotin supplementation program, patients with symptoms of anorexia, depression, exhaustion, muscle pain, and nausea all improved.

Magnesium - Magnesium is found in bones and within each cell of the body. Magnesium is essential for every important biological function including the digestion of glucose, the production and balance of cellular energy and the manufacturing of nucleic acids and proteins. Magnesium helps preserve the electrical balance of cells and is essential for membrane integrity, proper muscle contraction, nerve conduction, regular heartbeat, and venous health. Magnesium is essential for Calcium absorption. Magnesium suppresses parathyroid hormone, which extracts calcium from the bones and stimulates calcitonin, a hormone which increases and maintains calcium stores in the bones. Magnesium helps the nerves to relax after being stimulated by calcium.

Magnesium deficiencies can result in confusion, convulsions, fatigue, and loss of appetite, loss of coordination, nausea, tremor and vomiting. Health experts believe borderline magnesium deficiency is very common. The medical system acknowledges that even a slight shortage of magnesium can result in life threatening deviations from abnormal heart arrhythmia. An article in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition confirms that sufficient magnesium intake can reduce blood pressure levels. Alcohol, caffeine and refined sugar consumption, diuretics, perspiration and stress all can lower magnesium levels. 20% of heart attacks result from coronary artery spasms caused by insufficient amounts of magnesium and an amino acid called tryptophan. Recent studies show Magnesium may even help to prevent cancer and strengthen cell walls. A double blind study of individuals diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome found that each one had "abnormally low" levels of magnesium in their blood. Those given magnesium sulfate injections experienced greater energy, less pain, and better emotional states than those who were given placeboes. Studies done in Sweden with well trained athletes showed those who received a magnesium and potassium supplement before going through an exercise stress test experienced a 50% increase in their endurance.

Calcium - 99% is stored in the bones and teeth. Calcium is a lifelong dietary requirement used in almost every body function. Calcium is necessary for muscle contractions, nerve transmission, immune system maintenance, regular heartbeat and the production of biological energy. Calcium protects the body against cardiovascular disease. Poor calcium absorption can play into estrogen output. Therefore calcium supplementation can be very supportive of PMS issues and menstrual cramps. New England Journal of Medicine suggests that calcium may offer protection against colon cancer. Calcium is needed for the protection of osteoporosis. Calcium is one of the primary minerals needed to assist the body in pH regulation. Other factors that calcium has benefited is lowering cholesterol, reduction of cardiovascular disease, nervousness, irritability, insomnia, and headaches. The normal acidic levels found in the stomach enhance the absorption needs of calcium. Calcium requires magnesium and Vitamin D for optimal absorption.
Zinc - the second most abundant trace mineral in the body following iron. Zinc is important in the role of phosphorus metabolism and plays an important role in immune function. Men have a greater need for Zinc. Zinc is important in prostate function. Recent studies have confirmed zinc deficiency causes dwarfism in humans.

Copper - is needed for the production of collagen, and connective tissue and found in bone to prevent brittleness. Copper helps with the formation of elastin and the formation of bones. Bones and muscles contain over 50% of the total copper stores in the body. Red blood cells depend on copper. Copper works with Vitamin C in the biosynthesis of collagen and the elastin in the elastic fibers in the blood vessels, skin and vertebral discs.

Manganese - is a cofactor in the body's production of glycosaminoglycans. It is an essential need for antioxidant enzymes active in the heart and nerves. Manganese research found that manganese and calcium support helps PMS. Manganese along with calcium, copper and zinc slows bone loss in osteoporosis in women. In Clinical trials Manganese with glucosamine helps to reduce knee pain.

Chromium - plays an important role in the stimulation of enzymes in the glucose metabolism. Chromium is a mineral that is involved in the Glucose Tolerance Factor. Chromium is required for carbohydrate metabolism and protein synthesis. Chromium has been used for arteriosclerosis, atherosclerosis, diabetes, high blood pressure, hypercholesterolemia, and hypoglycemia. Chromium deficiency affects vitamin C absorption.

Selenium - selenium is an antioxidant. Cardiovascular disease, asthma, endemic goiter, sudden infant death syndrome, and multiple sclerosis as well as cervical dysplasias show to have a low level of selenium. Selenium levels are severely depleted in liver disease, cirrhosis and hepatitis. Children with food allergies also show low levels of selenium.

In 1996 a clinical intervention study found that patients treated with selenium had significant reduction in total cancer mortality, total cancer incidence and incidences of lung, colorectal and prostate cancers. A number of U.S. studies have confirmed that men with low intake of selenium have a high risk of prostate cancer than men with high intake of selenium. Results of one randomized, double blind controlled cancer prevention trial found that selenium treatment was associated with a significant (63%) reduction in prostate cancer incidence. On February, 21, 2003 the FDA authorized the use of 2 health claims in the labeling of dietary supplement containing selenium- first, selenium may reduce the risk of certain cancers; second, selenium may produce anticarcinogenic effects in the body. The FDA also required labels to include the disclaimer that this has determined that this evidence is limited and not conclusive.

Molybdenum - molybdenum is an essential trace mineral that is a cofactor. The cofactor assists enzymes that break down DNA from food and from recycled cells. Deficiencies increase the risk of stomach cancer. The enzyme that enables the stomach to process potentially carcinogenic nitrosamines from grilled and cured meats depends on Molybdenum.

Potassium - potassium is an essential mineral for electrolyte balance in the body. PH is regulated by potassium. Healthy potassium levels effect water balance and nerve function and cellular integrity, all. Potassium balances the metabolic action of sodium. Potassium attaches to the inside of the cells while sodium penetrates the fluid between the outside the cells. Then these two minerals are equalized, the body's water and acid/alkaline balance is stable and the muscles and nerves operate smoothly. A deficiency in potassium can cause neuromuscular function to diminish, resulting in a weakening of the body, loss of muscle tone and poor reflex action. One study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition involved vegetarians known to have a higher dietary intake of potassium than meat-eaters and non-vegetarians. Average blood pressure levels among the vegetarian group were lower, with only 2% registering what could be determined as high blood pressure. In contrast, 26% on the non-vegetarians were diagnosed with hypertensive.

The key component in this controlled study was the fact that potassium levels were higher in the vegetarian group. A high potassium diet has also shown to prevent death from resulting strokes. A 12 year study of older Southern California residents demonstrated those having the highest dietary potassium levels experienced the fewest deaths from strokes, while those who did have fatal strokes all demonstrated lower potassium consumption. The study eliminated other known risk factors for strokes. Again the single component was potassium levels.

Vanadium - is similar to chromium in its actions. It increases the skeletal muscle sensitivity to glucose. Vanadium plays a role in hypoglycemic balance. Vanadium mimics insulin.

CoQ10 - is made by every cell in the body to capture electrons released as the mitochondria release energy. CoQ10 is need for a healthy heart muscle. CoQ10 is used by every cell in the body to capture electrons release as the mitochondria release the energy by combing sugar with oxygen.

Grape Seed Extracts, Bilberry, Pine Bark - are part of a group of Bioflavanols, commonly known as proanthocyanidins or OPC's for short. Many believe these are one of the greatest discoveries in history. OPC is 50 times more potent than vitamin E and 20 times more potent than vitamin C as a scavenger of free radicals. What this means to you is that OPC's are the super hero's that help protect the cells and get rid of the free radicals which can cause much damage to your body. OPC is great for the circulatory system, to reduce edema and arrest varicose veins. It has been used in Europe for these disorders for decades as well as diabetic retinopathy. It has been shown to strengthen capillaries, arteries and veins, and even to prevent bruising. OPC's effects can normally be seen in a short period of time. A test of 47 people was performed by Professor Henri Choussat of the University of Bordeaux in France. These people were between 37 and 85 years old.  They were given one 100-milligram OPC supplement. In 72 hours the test revealed that they had increased capillary resistance by 140%.

Ginseng -  is the most widely recognized plant used in traditional medicine. Various forms of ginseng have been used in medicine for more than 7000 years. Several species grow around the world, and though some are preferred for specific benefits, all are considered to have similar properties as an effective general rejuvenator. The name panax is derived from the Greek word panacea meaning, "all healing" and the benefits of ginseng are recognized as such. Ginseng is commonly used as an adaptogen, meaning it normalizes physical functioning depending on what the individual needs (for example, it will lower high blood pressure, but raise low blood pressure). It is also used to reduce the effects of stress, improve performance, boost energy levels, enhance memory, and stimulate the immune system. Oriental medicine has deemed ginseng a necessary element in all their best prescriptions, and regards it as prevention and a cure. It is said to remove both mental & bodily fatigue, cure pulmonary complaints, dissolve tumors and reduce the effects of age.
